Another victory recorded for the sports diplomacy in Cameroon with the election of Mrs. Odette ENGOULOU as member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) this Wednesday 26th June 2019.

It is during the ongoing CIO session taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland that Mrs. Engoulou was given this international recognition.

President of the Cameroon Badminton Federation, Vice president of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee, and equally member of the executive bureau of the African Confederation of Badminton, she has proven beyond reasonable doubt her capacity in managing sports organisations and her determination to see the sports and Olympic movement in Cameroon further emerge.

It is worth mentioning that, amongst the 10 new members who joined the IOC family, Africa is valuably represented with four other members notably: TIDJANE THIAM form Ivory Coast, MATLOHANG MOILOA from Lesotho, Filomena Marie SPENCER from Cabo Verde and Berraf MUSTAPHA from Algeria. With their arrival in the organization it now counts 105 active members.

The Cameroonian delegation to these works of the IOC is conducted by the Hamad KALKABA MALBOUM president of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee.

Cameroon has once more been given the opportunity through a lady this time to be part of the International Olympic Committee, and this can be considered as a great advantage for the country which is already renowned in the Sports and Olympic Movement at the international level. So we can say “Power to the Women” and Congratulations to Mrs. Odette ENGOULOU.

On the 8th March 2019, the women of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee will join the International community to commemorate the 34th edition of the International Women’s day.

Barely few weeks away from the celebration of the women’s Day, several activities are being organized across the country by women of the various organizations. The women of the CNOSC together with women from the ministries and other associations started their activities with a big sports walk organized on Saturday 02 March by the Ministry of Women Empowerment and the Family. The walk which united more than one thousand women started at 6 a.m and had as departure point the 20th May Boulevard.

The women of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee continued their International Women’s Day celebration (IWD) assisted by the men of the institution, on the 6th of March with another Sports walk which started at 7:30 a.m. After the walk, the women had an initiatory lesson to Badminton and played for few hours.

On the 8th March the ladies decided to focus on reflection activities. They started with the execution of the women’s anthem chosen for this edition, then with a Round Table on the theme, “women solidarity in the CNOSC, important element for an efficient contribution in its development”. Through this discussion, the women wanted to bring out the importance of solidarity for the development of the CNOSC and equally insisted on the fact that more responsibilities should be given to the women for a better functioning of the institution. It is worth recalling that the national theme of this 34th edition of the International Women’s Day is “think equal build smart, innovate for change”.
